Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) carefully before using the services provided by Smart People Moving.
1. Services
Smart People Moving provides local and intrastate moving services in the San Francisco Bay Area and California. Our services include:
- Local residential and apartment moving
- Office and commercial moving
- Packing and unpacking services
- Loading and unloading
- Furniture assembly and disassembly
2. Booking and Estimates
All moves require advance booking. Estimates provided are based on information you supply and may be adjusted based on actual conditions on move day. Final charges are based on:
- Actual time required to complete the move
- Number of movers and trucks used
- Additional services requested
- Access conditions (stairs, elevators, walking distance)
3. Payment Terms
Payment is due upon completion of services unless otherwise agreed in writing. We accept cash, credit cards, and certified checks. A deposit may be required for large moves.
4. Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled move may be subject to a cancellation fee. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to reschedule.
5. Liability and Insurance
We provide basic liability coverage as required by California law. Additional full value protection is available upon request. Please discuss coverage options with our team before your move.
6. Customer Responsibilities
Customers are responsible for:
- Providing accurate inventory and access information
- Securing parking and building access
- Identifying items requiring special handling
- Removing or securing valuable items not being moved
- Being present or having a representative present during the move
7. Prohibited Items
We cannot transport hazardous materials, flammable items, perishables, plants, or illegal items. Please inform us of any special items that may require additional handling.
8. Claims
Any claims for damaged or missing items must be reported within 9 months of delivery. Please inspect your belongings upon delivery and note any concerns on the bill of lading.
9. Limitation of Liability
Our liability is limited to the coverage level selected. We are not liable for items packed by the customer, pre-existing damage, or delays caused by circumstances beyond our control.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any disputes shall be resolved in San Francisco County courts.
